1-34. Build an Altar for God in your mind and you will give your Creator a place where your mind can connect to the One Mind of Love.
To build an Altar for God in your mind requires carving out a space, however small, in which you believe there is a possibility for Peace to find a Home. The space need not be large, exist permanently or even be consistently present in your mind. At first, holding space for God in your mind will likely require effort and focus. You will need to employ the vast powers of your imagination to create a structure, location or situation that you feel is both appropriate and correct to allow the Mind of God to enter and join with your mind. The details of this place are irrelevant and absolutely personal. There is no need to share the description, ideas or thoughts associated with this space with anyone else. This is your personal enclave within your own mind, a part of your mind in which you allow yourself to believe that it is possible to find and experience Peace. By its very nature, this part of your mind will not be known to or experienced by your ego. Your ego will not participate in the creation and holding of this part of your mind. Your ego is not real. As such, it cannot assist in any process of thought that involves attempting to accept anything that is actually Real. God is Eternal and God is Forever Real. The ego is temporary, an illusionary construct that enjoys a life and existence within your mind solely because you believe it to be real. But the ego is not real and can never be. First simply imagine an Altar of any sort. It does not need to be of the type experienced in this world in any way. It can be a field, a forest, a river, an ocean, a building or a wishing well. The form is not important. What is important is that you allow yourself to be willing to imagine that it is possible for a place in your mind to exist that is so clean, so perfect and so unsullied by thoughts of fear, pain, loss and regret that this place would be and can be suitable for a Perfect Mind to enter. Construct your Altar in any manner you wish, taking as much time as you feel you need to refine all of the details until you can imagine it without any obstruction. Once you have invested sufficient time and effort into the construction and design of your Altar, you will know that it is Complete. This will not be a thought, not a certain moment when you will receive any particular guidance or sign that you have completed this process. Your Altar will simply feel right in a way that needs no explanation. You will feel the correctness of your Altar with your heart, not with your mind. Once you feel this, you are ready to allow your Altar to simply exist. Attempt to remember it at least once a day. Do not be concerned that building such an Altar in your mind appears to have no effect at first. Your mind is a deep and vast ocean. Much of your thought processes occur on levels that do not rise to the top of your mind, what is generally considered in this world as your conscious mind. Do not fret or concern yourself with these deeper levels of consciousness. They exist to allow for ample space so that absolutely any thought will have room to expand and grow as it needs until you are ready to accept and recognize the thought as your own. Over time, in a process that cannot be explained or understood by the rational, conscious level of your mind, your Altar will become increasingly purified, rising above all thoughts of fear until it truly becomes a place of absolute Perfection. It is not valuable to dwell on the time that may pass while this process of cleansing occurs. For some it may be rapid and for others it is possible that years will pass. This is of no concern. Time is not what you think it is and it does not serve the purposes you likely believe it serves. Time is no more real than fear. It is a useful process that allows for development, growth, change, renewal and expansion. But it is not permanent. Time had a beginning and it will have an end as well. But God is Forever. No matter how many days pass, allow your Altar to just be, simply existing and being remembered and accepted each day. There will come a moment when the Mind of God will find you and Join with you in a way that defies all of material reality. Indeed this process transcends this world thoroughly and completely. This event, although describing an instant of time that is not actually an instant at all as an event is not accurate but does have utility, will appear to entail some form of change. That you change is also not truly accurate. You have never been separated from the Mind of God. But you did believe that you were and it doing so, you found yourself in this world, a place that appears to embody separation, loss and isolation at nearly every turn. Because the Mind of God is Perfect, it does not change for it has no need of change. It is already exactly just as it should be, now and forever. What actually does occur, though it is also not an occurrence in the sense that this world uses that concept, is that within the many layers of your mind, a permanent space is opened into which the Light of God’s Perfect Love for you can be remembered. That you have forgotten this Love, in at least some if not all of the layers of your mind, is without doubt. Had you never forgotten it, you would have had not found yourself in this world. But to forget is not to lose. Through the process of creating and tending to your Altar, you can and will reunite at least a part of your mind with the Perfect Mind of God, beginning a process of allowing the Light of Love to be Seen again. Your body’s eyes play no part in this process. This allowing, this acceptance, this willingness to change your beliefs and to release fear, even if just for the briefest of instants, will rejoin your mind with your heart in a way that can never be broken, changed or altered. Once completed, this bond is forever. As it has always been, so shall it always be.
